Activating audit checks

A guide on how to turn on tests in your account

Written by Sharlotte Briscoe

Insites has the ability to carry out a wide range of checks when analysing a website. By default, only a core number of checks are enabled but it is possible to enable additional checks or disable checks that you do not want.

Whilst you could enable every check available within your audit, it is worth considering how the increased level of information will come across to your clients when you share or discuss their audits with them. The phrase “less is more” is certainly worth keeping in mind here!

Enabling or disabling checks

Only account administrators have the ability to adjust the checks that are enabled.

Once logged into your account, click on the Audit designer option in the left nav, third from the top of the menu.

In here, you can activate by clicking and dragging from the list of available checks on the left into the relevant section on the right, or deactivate them dragging from the relevant section on the right back into the available checks section on the left.

When the checks are enabled, you can click on the cog next to the check to customise the check weightings in the account. These will contribute to the overall score of the audit.

Once you have activated or deactivated checks, scroll to the very bottom and hit Save Changes to apply the changes. You may want to review the Overview editor to ensure that all the checks are displayed on the overview screen, as newly enabled checks are not shown by default.

Please note, the new check settings will only apply to new audits generated after you have applied the changes. If you need to include the new check settings on an existing audit, you will need to retest the audit (an audit credit will be used).
