Understanding competitor comparisons
Comparing a business against local competitors is one of the most effective ways to create meaningful sales conversations. Seeing where nearby competitors are outperforming them online can help businesses better understand the opportunities they may be missing and why improving their digital presence matters.
Insites allows you to compare the audited business against up to 3 local competitors directly within the audit.
Adding a competitor
Before adding competitors, you’ll first need to generate an audit for the business you’re working with.
There’s two different ways to add a competitor, firstly; open up the Competitors tab and select Find competitors.
You can search for competitors, use our pre populated usggestions or use any recently run audits. To search for a business, you can one of the following:
Business name
Website address
Industry and location
Once you’ve found the correct business, select the plus button to add them to the comparison.
Secondly; You can use the competitor suggestions section located further down the page on the overview. Simply click Add next to the relevant competitor.
If the competitor has already been audited previously, the existing audit will be added automatically.
If the competitor has not yet been audited, Insites will generate a new audit before adding them to the comparison. Most audits complete within 30–90 seconds, and a progress bar will keep you updated while the audit runs.
Why competitor comparisons matter
Competitor comparisons help highlight gaps in visibility, website performance, SEO, reviews, local presence, and other important digital marketing areas.
For sales reps, this creates a stronger consultative conversation by helping prospects clearly see:
Where competitors may currently have an advantage
Areas where the business could improve online performance
Opportunities to attract more customers and stay competitive locally
The goal isn’t simply to compare scores - it’s to help businesses understand the impact their digital presence can have on visibility, enquiries, and creating customers out of searchers and website visitors.
Audits and usage allowances
If a competitor has already been audited previously, Insites will reuse the existing audit when adding them to a comparison.
If no existing audit is available, a new audit will be generated and deducted from your available audit allowance.
If your allowance has already been reached, additional audits will be charged according to your pricing agreement.
