Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that helps protect your online accounts. It works by adding a second step to the login process. Normally, you would enter your username and password, but with two-factor authentication, you also need to provide another piece of information, like a unique code. This code is usually sent to your mobile phone or generated by an app. By requiring this additional step, even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without the second factor, making it much harder for hackers to gain unauthorized access to your personal information.

Access two factor authentication settings

First up, you need to access your security settings here https://app.insites.com/user/two-factor-auth or by following these steps:

  • Click on your profile picture top right

  • Click on "My Profile"

  • Click on "Two Factor Authentication" in the left menu

We use mobile phone as a back-up authentication method. If you haven't already set your mobile phone number, you should do this first under My profile.

Activating two factor authentication

To activate two-factor authentication, you'll need an authenticator app installed on your phone. We recommend Authy, but there are many others available such as Google Authenticator.

  • Ensure you're on the two factor authentication settings (see above)

  • Throw the toggle switch to enable 2FA

  • Hit save. You'll need to re-enter your password to confirm the change to your security settings

  • Open your authenticator app

  • Press the button to add a new authentication (this will depend on the 2FA app you're using)

  • Take a picture of the on-screen QR code
